Signature 2016 Fashion Show

I’m baaaaaaack!!

Yesterday, I attended Signature 2016: a fashion show put together by the graduating students of Lasalle College Montreal’s Fashion Design program.

Minimalist, decadent, ethereal and tongue in cheek: all the areas of fashion were touched upon. But it will probably be of no surprise to you: my favorite moments were the ones where the clothes were simple and monochromatic.

Roughly 100 students worked on this show – congratulations to all of them!

And believe me, I’m not using the word quest lightly: back in October, I spent days searching for a pair, only to realize that my skinny ankles and high-school teacher budget were making it really hard for me to find chaussure à mon pied as we say in French. There was the pair from Aldo which a friend of mine owns, “really comfortable, great price – you won’t be disappointed,” she assured me. They ended up looking ridiculous on me. There was also the one by Loeffler Randall which was per-fect. Except for its $475 price tag…

That being said, there’s a new player in town and that means that I can resume my quest. Cartel is a Montreal-based footwear company and if the numerous sold-outs models on its website are any indication, I’m not the only one to have fallen for their perfect mix of craftsmanship and style. Because really, how can any self-respecting shoe lover not be partial to a company whose commitment to quality is such that they only produce “in leathers, right down to the sole” ? I rest my case.

Here are my favorite models: Continue reading
